HVAC Units: Furnaces & Air Conditioners
If you’re finding that your home is either hot or too cool; more than whatâs comfortable for everyone in your home or office, even with the furnace running, then you might need to consider a larger heating or AC unit or potentially a more updated fan system. Many times the problem is that old furnace and HVAC units have proven to be less environmentally friendly and consume much more power than newer systems for the hot or cold they produce. Using these will in effect increase your monthly power bill – and thatâs the last thing anyone wants! Also, your current furnace and air conditioning unit just might need some simple service or repair; like changing out an old clogged air filter. Inefficiently running units are the biggest cause for repairs and problems that youâll face. Helping you to repair your furnace or deciding to install a new more energy efficient model is Air Nationalâs specialty. We know just what to look for, what adjustments to make, and what furnace parts are needed. Because of this intimate knowledge of HVAC units, we can make our service or repair call completed as quickly as possible – saving you both time and money! Your immediate comfort and air quality is our biggest concern.
HVAC – Your Heating and Cooling Are Typically In the Same Unit
It’s well known that the most popular way to heat and cool your home is with a Central HVAC System. Most people don’t realize that the air conditioning coils are inside the furnace system. Similar to the way your home is heated, refrigerant is pumped through copper or aluminum tubing coils placed inside the furnace unit and fresh air blown over those coils cools the air before it’s distributed to your individual rooms through a duct system. It’s common to have problems with the fan that blows the air over both the heating coils, natural gas flames, and cooling coils alike. We bring up the point because the furnace is the central unit for keeping your home heated and cooled. Hiring the right company who intimately knows furnaces will save you both time and money with your heating and cooling needs.
Ductwork Problems – Part Of the HVAC System
If there is a problem with the ductwork in your home, then your HVAC System may may be struggling. The technician from Air National can evaluate your ducts for proper insulation, leaks, and mold infiltration. Clean ducts that are operating the way the should are a key part of any central HVAC System.
How Heating Systems Work
This is actually quite simple. Depending on which type of furnace you’re using whether it’s gas forced air or electric. Many people choose gas forced air because the cost of natural gas it typically much less expensive to run than an all electric unit.
Gas Forced Air Furnaces
Roughly 70% of all homes and commercial buildings use gas furnaces in their Heating System. This means that the lions share of the units out there are gas now. Gas furnaces have been available on the commercial market for nearly 90 years now. They were first tested and fine-tuned in 1925. These furnaces work by igniting the natural gas through burners and a fan will blow fresh air through the flames. The burning flame will warm the air and it’s then delivered to your room via ductwork and vents. Slower speeds of air -or- bigger flames will heat the air hotter before it’s sent through the ductwork to the various rooms.
All Electric Furnace Units
Similar to water heaters, electricity is used to heat metallic coils inside of the furnace. Just the same as natural gas furnaces, a fan will pull in fresh air and blow it over the heated coils, warming the air. Electric furnaces have been around since the late 1800’s and became the next best solution as people started to replace wood-burning or coal burning stoves. The regular commercialization of electric furnaces didn’t become popular until the late 1940’s. This is a typical furnace solution for places that don’t readily have natural gas (including propane) easily accessible.
Thermostat Problems
The problem with the heat in your home could potentially be with the thermostat and not with the HVAC System itself. This is one of the least common problems to deal with as thermostats rarely have problems, even new digital and wireless models. If we find that the thermostat is the problem, then repair costs will be lower than having to fix the system or other furnace parts replacement. Air National also services, repairs, installs, and replaces thermostats for just about any type of application. Talk to us about more efficient units that are controlled from your iPhone or Android with an app. They’ve been known to save people hundreds of dollars per year in better efficiency.
Residential Home or Commercial Building? – It Doesn’t Matter!
Business or commercial systems tend to be a little larger and handle a lot bigger stresses of raising or lowering the temperature of the commercial building. The commercial systems work the same way as home systems with a few additional requirements such as smoke alarms and environmental (outside) air that must be added to the system. We find a high percentage of businesses in the Harris County area want to be as conservative as possible when it comes to energy costs. Air National can handle any type of HVAC Repair or Service that is needed.
